When “Write down your goals” isn’t working, another motivational route may be needed.
You start to write… but suddenly, you’re sweating in your favorite shirt. Your goals feel scattered and maybe even non-existent. You loosen your tie, heart palpitates. Ladies pull their hair atop in a bun. Fear caves the chest as you lay your cheek on your fist; your shoulder on the desk, holding up the weight of “whom you think you need to be.”
… this is not the leadership development you need right now. You need powerful executive coaching, leadership development, and emotional intelligence coaching with The Kind Communicator.
Every productivity study loves to repeat the same line: “Writing down your goals makes you 42% more likely to achieve them.”
It’s compelling, isn’t it? It has science-backed proof, and it feels contagious to run to the drawer and get your favorite pen out, but a large portion of the work population silently grieves.
The frustrating truth most leaders won’t admit out loud is that you can’t write down your goals if you don’t know what they are. Heck, you might have too many and simply cannot choose.
A staggering number of high-performers, entrepreneurs, coaches, and managers don’t lack ambition, they’re not lazy, and they are not exhausted. They’re just tied in a knot. Desire is not the problem; it’s clarity that needs surfacing with leadership development and mindfulness coaching for leaders.
If “Just write your goals!” becomes a reason to knock your head against the wall at 11 am because many of you silently say,
“Which ones?” “They conflict!” “They feel scattered!” “I don’t feel connected to anything rigth now!”
The question that follows is: How do you get clear when you’re stuck?
First, let’s call the obstacle what it is. You’re never stuck; your energy isn’t moving in the right direction. And that’s exactly where certain executive coaches like myself do our greatest work in emotional intelligence coaching and leadership development.
You can’t strategize what you can’t see clearly, emphasizing mindfulness coaching for leaders.
If sorting out the noise alone feels alone, it’s not because you’re weak, or wrong, or even behind. There’s probably so much greatness living inside of you that choices become indistinguishable, and that stinking quote of “42%” becomes too much to bear.
I know you probably don’t want to hear this but if you’re having trouble with goals, you may be confused with emotional congestion. In my studies of philosophy, communication, and energy, I help leaders unblock their inner system of mind, energy, breath and intuition. The internal knows all.
Getting to your intuition takes a bit of processing and healing, which takes time; all the while, the external quickly pushes the ego into fear, which causes a lack of direction. Executive coaching can help.
If you want to lead, you must get out of survival mode. If you want clarity, you have to love uncertainty. Hard truths.
Come into coherence and remember who you are. Just step away from the bullet points and reflect; a far better calling than the force of writing who you “think” you need to be. And that’s just the beginning of mindfulness coaching for leaders.
Maybe we skip that 42% statement for now until you come home to your soul with emotional intelligence coaching and leadership development.
